Environmental justice must be the heart of any climate change initiative. Which is why the Biden administration has created Justice40, which pledges to direct 40% of any climate spending to disadvantaged communities. It includes an interactive map that analyzes every census tract in the U.S. using socioeconomic and environmental data, and designates some of those tracts as “disadvantaged” based on a complicated formula, writes Grist

It’s an important step towards ensuring that those least responsible for climate change but most affected by it are equipped with the tools to address the impacts. It’s also a valuable commitment to transparency. Read more about it here.
